December 30, 2013

Well, i don`t have too much to say, since we only talked a few days ago, but I wanna share a great experience that happened the other day. So my zone, is really big. like really big. Every transfer we have to do divisions with the district leaders of our zone. So we decided that we were going to start with the area farthest away first so that we could get the longest travel over with quickly. So its 3 hours in bus, we were on our way out there when the asistants to the president called us and told us that we needed to be in the mission offices the next day at 9 in the morning for a special meeting. which is another 2 hour drive from our area. So anyway we were already 2 hours to the area. so we kept going. my companion and the other elder went back to our area and me and the Elder from the other stayed there and worked. Then we had to get a bus that was supposed to get there at 8:45... it didn`t show up until about 9:30. So me and the Elder were on the bus, talking the whole time and then we get to a city and the bus stops to let people off. (we were talking in english the whole time) Then some guy leans over and in english says, "Do you know where we are?" So you all know, when people talk to me in english it drives me insane. Without being prideful, If we talk in spanish wepre both going to understand a lot better than if we talk in english. So I answered him then turned my head to kind of turn him away. But he kept talking... asking questions about the travel time... Then he said, "You guys are mormon right? I live 2 blocks from a Mormon church." "Oh yeah? have you ever gone inside?" I asked him, then he says, "No... but I`ve always had desires to learn more about Joseph Smith." So we started teaching him about the restoration of the church. He told us lots of experiences he has had with one of his coworkers who is mormon and she always tells him things but he never went. So we gave him a book of mormon, wrote down his address and sent it to the missionaries from where he lives. Right as we pulled in to the city where we live, we felt that we should invite him to be baptized. so we did. and he accepted :) It was just an awesome experience, to know that even through all the confusion and changes of plans that the Lord is always preparing people in our paths and has a purpose for everything. For that reason its very important that we are always listening to our thoughts and feelings so that when we are impressed to talk to someone, we do it! I know that as we read and pray every day we prepare ourselves to do the Lord`s work. I know that He hears our prayers and responds to them through the scriptures. I love you so much, andhope all of you can set a goal to help at least 1 person in the year of 2014 to know the gospel. Its a simple task, that can bless the lives of millions! One person can do big things. Love, Elder Johnson

This week went pretty well, we are still working a little bit with the man who is trying to quit smoking and drinking. His mom has been taking the lessons and commitments very well, and this sunday she had her first big trial of faith. She had to decide if she was going to work or if she was going to go to church so that she could continue preparing for her baptism. We taught her a lot and promised her a lot of blessings, and my companions and I felt impressed to promise her that if she decided to leave this job that she only has on sundays that the Lord would bless her with another job. She tolds us that she had a lot of desires to go to church, but that she couldn`t just give up her job like that. So she didn`t go to church on sunday, and afterwards we went to go visit her later that night. We got to her house, and didn`t even say a word before she said, "You know what, I should have gone to church. Everything has gone terribly wrong today, and I didn`t even show up to work on time, I`m pretty sure that was God`s way of telling me that I should have at least gone to church before going to work. I`ve decided though that, I`m not going to work there anymore.. I`m going to church!" It`s been a great week, we´ve been working well with the members too, and we also helped a lady named Isabel, who is a members niece to go to church. She`s got 3 kids and is married and she told us that she wants God to be more known in her family, and that she wants to be an example for her children, this saturday we met her, and on sunday she was at church. I know that as we better understand the doctrine, and why we do the things the Lord commands us to do, that we are more diligent and more faithful as disciples of the Lord. We must always look for the reason the Lord wants us to do things, not just do them cuz he says so. I love you so much, I know that reading and praying nightly as a family will bless you and can make any family become more united. I`ve seen it, and know its possible. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven. :) Love, Elder Johnson

This week has been a crazy one. This transfer has been like a crazy rollercoaster ride. Great things happen but then they just fall away. Or we`re having a hard time, and then miracles happen. This week we have been spending a lot of time with a guy named Martin who is trying to stop smoking and drinking. He`s going really slowly, and we`re debating on how much more time e should stay with him. We are working with his mom too, and she is showing a lot of desires, and is progressing quite a bit. We had the great opportunity to take her to a baptism on sunday night. Just like the promise in doctrine and covenants, the spirit of the Lord was surely manifest in the ordinance, and she felt it. She said afterwards that it was a very beautiful thing, and that now she needed to start preparing for her own baptism. We loved hearing htose words come out of her mouth haha. So as for that we`re still working really hard on finding the escogidos. I`m studying a lot of portuguese and spanish so I can be trilengual when i get home and score a super good job haha. Things are going pretty crazy here. It`s getting really hot and I`m really grateful for arizona summers now. I can`t stand sweating so much. It kills me! But now that we have a pool at home, I`ll just get home take off my suit and jump in haha. so make sure the pool is nice and clean when I get home, cuz I`m going to have to go through 2 summers in a row. I`m going to need it! I love you all, have a great week, don`t forget to read and pray every day! It`s how we find our answers :) Love, Elder Johnson

November 18, 2013

This week was pretty exciting. We had quite a bit of miracles and saw a lot of progression here in the area. My companion and I realized, that if we are going to find the people that God is preparing for us, that we literally need to talk to EVERYONE. When our appointments fall through, or we don`t have anything to do, we literally have been talking to EVERYONE in our sight. We saw the blessings from doing so, and saw that the Lord now has more trust in us when on sunday, a member comes up to us and says "Hey elders, we found a guy outside of the hospital that stopped us and said he wants to change his life. Come with us and we`ll present him to you." So we went and talked to this man and he told us that he has had a really hard life, and result of that is that he goes to alcohal and drugs to solve his problems. So we talked to him for a bit and explained to him the importance of baptism, and invited him to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized. He accepted, and we are now goign to start working with him to leave his addictions behind, and follow his savior! Also, this week ELDER HOLLAND came to our mission for a mission conference! Well it was with all the buenos aires missions! But still, it was so awesome! It was like a dream come true to be able to see him in person and hear his voice. Like I told dad, I`ve never been so excited to hear someone yell. haha. It was really cool. The thing that most hit me was when he said that he really believes that were are the people who are most prayed for in the entire planet. He also said that we are Apostolic in this moment. The most powerful thing was when he said, "You guys are doing the same thing I do every day! From the minute I wake up in the morning until the minute I go to bed, I`m trying to figure out how I can save a human soul!" Just imagine that in Elder Holland`s yelling with the spirit voice!! SUPER POWERFUL :) It really helped em to understand the importance of my calling. I know that everyday, I need to be thinking in the same thing. Not only as a missionary, but always, for my entire life! I love this gospel, and I know that it`s true. I know that this is the only place where we can find true hapiness! The way the Lord gives it to us, is through His scriptures! I love you all! Have a great week! READ AND PRAY EVERY DAY!!!! Love, Elder Always Tired.

November 5, 2013

Bueno, I don`t have a ton to write about this week. Last week was pretty boring, other than the fact that some guy came up to me, saluted and walked away. It was pretty interesting. The things you see in buenos aires... But, I got transfered finally. I´m going to miss my other area, A LOT, but i needed a change. I`m in a city called parque patricios, and my companion is elder nureñas. He`s from Peru. We are white washing an area, which means they take both the missionaries out and put 2 new ones in. It`s going to be pretty interesting seeing that they didn`t leave us with anything at all to know who the investigators are, who are the leaders of the ward, we don`t even know what are areas limits are. I don`t even know what part of the city im supposed to work in haha. But will see what happens. theres always miracles that happen when you have no idea what you`re doing, but work your hardest anyway. Soo... We`re going to work hard anyway :) That`s pretty muich all I have to say for this week. Sorry its pretty boring, but I`ll let you guys in on some good stuff next week... hopefully haha. Don`t forget to read and pray every day! Love, ELder Johnson

October 28, 2013

Welllll.. This week was pretty nuts! So... We are still working with those 3 girls, their names are Melina, Yamalie, and Neda. We have been working really hard with them to help them to progress to a baptismal date. A week ago from saturday we had put the goal for them to get baptized on saturday the 26th. They were at mutual on the 19th and had a great time and really made friends with all the kids and enjoyed it a lot. So sunday, the 20th, we wake up (and that was mothers day here in Argentina) And we`re awake for 5 minutes and we get a message saying they weren´t going to go to church because they were going to travel. So that day started off pretty... well, not so great. haha. So we talked to them on monday and started talking about baptism again... cuz thats what we do as missionaries :) We told them that if they really wanted to go to church that they needed to talk to their mom and help her understand the importance of it and tell them that they really want to go! The next day we talked to them and they told us their mom said that they would go sunday no matter what! Then, We helped them make more friends and kept teaching them, and thursday we got a message from them asking if we were going to go visit them cuz they wanted us to teach them more! So of course we went! We were about to go there and we called to tell them we were outside, and the mom answered, she`s a less active member. She told us that she wanted to talk to us at her work place to get things straight for sunday. So, a little startled, but anxious, we went quickly to her work. When we got there she came down and told us that her daughters wanted to get baptized this weekend and that they we`re all going to go to church! Needless to say, we were completely in agreement :) So friday we had a ward activity and we watched a movie and they went to that. Then sunday comes around. We went to their house and walked to church with all of them. We talked to them all after the first two meetings and the oldest didn`t feel ready to get baptized. We prayed with her and shared scriptures and everything, but she just felt like she needed to wait more time. So after sacrament meeting, we went down to prepare everything for her sisters, and the other 6 people that we`re getting baptized from the other ward. While my companion and I were changing in the bathroom, we come out to see that she was in a white tunica and had talked with the some of the sister missionaries, and they helped her to feel what she need to feel, and she felt completely ready to take the step with her sisters! It was a great day! So many people were able to make a covenant with our Heavenly Father, and take a necesarry step to return to his presence. I know that as we read and pray we will be able to feel the things the Lord wants us to feel. As we seek dilligently the answers we need, he will help us to know which path we need to take. I`m so grateful for the opportunity to be a servant in the Lord`s hands and I know that he desires that every single one of us will be willing to do what He asks of us, and share what we have with everyone. Love you tons! Thanks for all your prayers every day! Love, Elder Johnson

October 14, 2013

Family, this week was pretty boring. Not to much happened, and I don´t have a lot to say, but I will share the best part with you :) This sunday was fast and testimony meeting. our convert asked us if she could go up there and share her testimony, so she went up and did it, it was super graet, and made me feel real nice haha. Then anothr recent convert from one of the sisters shared her testimony, so that just started the subject real quick, of giving testimonies on missionary work :) The best thing ever! Then a girl that we have been working with got up to give her testimony, she talkd about how her life had been going real bad, that things weren´t going the way she really wanted, and that she wanted to change her life. She shared about the day we showed up to her house and started to help her with this process. She has been going to church for 4 weeks now without missing a sunday, she has read her scripturse every single day, and now has desires to serve a mission. This really helped me to learn, that we nver know what anyone is going through, we never know when someone is going to need our help. We always need to be supportive and loving and always inviting and offering, because maybe they will say no 40 times in a row, but we never know what has happened between the 40th and the 41st time. I love being able to help people receive the gospel. There is NO greater blessing. I hope you all will pray and think of somone you can help to receive it. It´s not easy, but its worth every minute of it. Don´t forget to read and pray every day either. Thats how we prepare to share it. I hope you guys can all acheive your goals and do the things necessary to get where you want to be. Alma 37:6 I Love you so much! Thanks for all your prayers! Elder Johnson

October 7, 2013

Hi family, It´s going to be short this week, sorry. This week has been a massive overload of meetings. From trainings, to district meetings and general conference! But a short little recap. The 3 girls we found last week, Melina, Yamalie, and Neda, are doing great! We had a little bit of trouble finding them this past week, but when we did, they took the things we taught them and applied it super well! 2 of them went to conference with us on sunday, and really enjoyed it. The best thing was that a member who was baptized 7 months ago who is the same age as them became super good friends with them and helped thema lot. Their goal is to get baptized this weekend, but we still have a l,ot to do before that happens, and its still a little bit of a pain to try to find them and teach them because they are fixing a house up in a nother part of the city so they can move in 5 or 6 months. Also, conference was great! I learned so much! I´m pretty sure the best talk was by the 70 on saturday night who talked about the exclamation points! I loved his excitement! It was great to hear all the excitement about the missionary work. It was crazy, because we´re right next to the area offices of the church.. we were sitting in the room waiting for the sunday morning session to start and in walks Elder Gonzalez of the 70 and sits down to watch conference with us. It was pretty dang cool! I´m also excited to hear the good news about the football game, its about time haha. I´m pretty bummed that I couldn´t be there, but I´m glad you guys could experience it for me! Go wolves! and ASU too! Man, I just get so excited to watch sports again that it sometimes drives me insane that I have no one to talk to about it, seeing as all my companion knows is soccer haha. It´s okay though, just be ready to hear me talk your ears off with questions and excitement when I get back! Oh no! What´s happening to me... I´m already starting to talk about "when I get back" hahah. I´m still focused though, don´t worry :p. Anyway... to finish off, one of my favorite lines from conference was... "Never look back, look at what we have left to do." That´s a great way to look at things in life. We have gone through a lot, some good things, and some bad things. It´s okay to have those memories, but we should never dwell on things, we need to use them to get back to work, and do what needs to be done. When we do this I know the Lord will bless us. We just pray and ask His help, and HIS will, shall be done. I love you so much! Thanks for all the great emails! READ AND PRAY EVERY DAY! Love, Elder Johnson!

September 30, 2013

Family, This week was a nice week in our area, and in our district. We divided palermo and things started going super fast. We saw so many miracles this week and blessings of the Lord in our work. One that surprised us a lot, was a lesson we had with our recent convert Teresa. When we got to her house we invited her husband to church on sunday. He´s always said that he had work and that he would some day but didnñt know when. This time was different, he told us that he had been talking to one of his co workers to be able to take his shift during church so that he could go and see what its like. So we commited him to do that and get it all settled before sunday. Then comes sunday morning and he was in church. He doesn´t want to accept a baptismal date still, but he´s starting to participate a lot more. The second one was when we were walking down the street, and we hear someone yell, Elders! So we turn around and see a girl that neither of us recognized. She lead us to her mom and her mom told us that she was a less active member of more than 20 years and wanted her daughters to get to know the church. We taught them, they accepted baptismal invitations, but due to some other things they had commited too they didn´t go to church on sunday... but we are going to keep going with them and help them prepare for their baptisms. So a couple of months ago we had zone conferences, and our mission president bought mcdonalds for every zone. then the day that we had our conference, something happened and we didn´t get mcdonalds. Him and his wife felt bad for me, because I had been helping with something in all the other conferences and so I knew that they were getting mcdonalds. So they promised me that one day they would take my companion and I to McDonalds... So today I received a call from president, and he said "hey, we´re going to your zone today to eat at a wendys... you´re invited and your entire zone too!" So because he is filthy rich he took us all to wendys. then, we broke the record of the mission in the month of september, and so he decided that he is going to take the entire mission to the zoo! The zoo is 100 pesos per person. There are 239 missionaries in the mission... so you that would be 24,000 pesos, Im pretty sure he´s paying for the majority of it....it´s insane. So the other thing that happened today, I was in the offices, and I met Elder and Sister Lines. I asked where they were from, and he said safford, arizona... Then it clicked! This is the family grandpa was telling me about! haha. So I met the lines family today :) It´s been a pretty fun week. I hope everything is going well at home. Time is passing by so quick here. I dont like it. haha, its gotta happent hough. I hope everything is going well with reading and praying. Try especially hard to do it this week so that you can be prepared to listen to the prophet and apostles and receive personal revelation :). I love you lots. Elder Johnson

September 24, 2013

Dear family, I don´t have a lot to say this week. mainly because I´m super tired. 4 hours of sleep for the first time in a year and a half. The reason: We had to clean our pension ALL NIGHT because sister missionaries are moving into our pension. I´m staying in Palermo with the companion from spain. The one from Chile left. But We´re here together again, and now they are putting sisters here. There are going to be 4 missionaries in Palermo now. Until they find us an appartment we´re moving in with the Zone leaders. We had our baptism this weekend. Teresa got Married on friday, baptized on saturday, confirmed on sunday. It was a great weekend haha. Pretty busy, but great! I have learned a lot this week. I´m a little nervous about what´s going to happen this transfer. it´s going to be really weird cutting the area down a little bit. I think it will give us more finding opportunites and for me personally less stress. But anyway, we´re going to hit the ground running and get to work. I put my memory cared in the computer and it erased all my pictures, luckily it was my new card and i didn´t have much, but I don´t think im going to risk sending pictures again. :) sorry! Love you so much, don´t forget to read and pray every day! And share the gospel with everyone! Love, Elder Johnson

September 16, 2013

Family, My birthday week was great :D. I can´t believe I´m 21 though. I´ve got nothing to look forward to now until I turn 50. :( Oh well. But we really did have a great week. The investigator, Teresa, has everything set now to get married this thrusday, then her baptism will be saturday and confirmation sunday. She also brought a friend to church, her name is mirta. She went to church and said she really liked it, and she also has a baptismal date for the 28th of september :) Things are starting to pick up again. Jimmy, teresa´s son, and mari, hes future wife have started taking their necesary steps so that they can get married and Jimmy can get baptized. I love being here in Palermo! Next tuesday are transfers though and we will have ot see what happens. Also, on my birthday, our stake president (who is filthy rich) Took the entire zone to mcdonalds! Not for my birthday, but because we met our baptismal goal. Our stake is growing a lot, and the work is getting a lot better here. Yesterday in church we had more investigators go to church in the entire stake, then any other sunday in history! So anyway we met our goal and he took us all to McDonalds. He bought us all food and the total was 1000 pesos! IT would be about 200 dollars. Then after that he bought us all sundaes, and mcdonalds isnt cheap here. a sunday is about 4 dollars. So in total he paid almost 300 dollars like it was nothing. It was super fun. My comps and I are working hard to keep the area going strong., ITs a rough area, but the members are starting to help us and understand their duty. It makes things a lot easier when the members give us their help. I hope that I can leave this area better than I found it. Its probably been my favorite area of my mission and its going to be hard to have to leave it, but I know that God has plans for me. I just have to be worthy and working to fulfill them. I read Mosiah 3 this week. It´s one of my favorite chapters. It´s such a blessing to have the scriptures in our lives. I realized that the scriptures are like the answer sheets to our tests. When we ask questions all day long to our Heavenly Father, we expect answers so quickly, but He´s given us these tools, so that we can grow within ourselves and do things alone, and not have to rely on others. So that´s why when we pray, we find our answers through studies. It just wouldn´t make sense for Him to say, "oh, you want to know the answer? Well its this..." When we find things out ourselves, It makes us self sufficient, and when trials come into our lives, we won´t fall, because we already know how to find the answer--- I´m sorry if this sounds weird again, I feel like my grammar is slowing being destroyed. But anyway. I think you guys understand it. I love you guys. Thank you for your emails, and the news of whats going on at home. Sounds like the devils are in for a great football season ;) Preparing to when the NCAA Title the year I get home :) Love you guys! Don´t forget to read and rpay everyday! Elder Johnson P.s. There is a sister in the other ward who grew up in St. David. Its really close to benson apparently!

September 9, 2013

Family. Thiss week was a pretty busy week. I am dead tired! On top of things, it sounds like you guys are having a pretty good rain experience too. Friday morning, at 3 Am I woke up to so much rain coming down and so hard, and also the loudest and most frequent thunder I have ever heard in my life. I couldn´t sleep at all. It rained from 1 AM until about 5 pm. It was a pretty wet day. Now, on the work side of the letter. We´re working with Teresa, the girl IU told you about last week. She has a lot of desires to get baptized. It´s kind of crazy. She is the step grandma of Jahaira, the girl that got baptized her a few months ago. The whole family went to church again this week! The best thing that happened was that teresa set a date to get married, so that she can get baptized. We did some work with her and now she´s just got to wait it out and she will become a member of the church! Its pretty exciting. Her spirit is spreading to everyone too. This last week her future husband also started listening to us. And her son, jahaira´s step dad is changing a TON! If you would have asked me if he was going to get baptized about 2 months ago when I first met him, I probably would have just started laughing. He always treated his family really poorly, and even treated us poorly. but now everyone is seeing changes in him, and he told us yesterday, that he would do anything to get baptized! AHHH ITS SO GREAT! BAPTIZING FAMILIES IS JUST THE BEST THING EVER!!!! We´re now in the process of helping jahairas mom get divorced from her last marriage so that she can get married with Jimmy and then they will all be baptized! Transfers are coming up, and I´ve been here for a long time now, I don´t know if I want to stay another one, but I really want to see Jimmy get baptized. I guess will just have to wait and see what happens. I might have to come back to Argentina in about a year or so too to see them get sealed in the temple :D. But anyway things are going great. My companions are trying to learn english, and they both told me they want me to speak to them in english. Lets just say that I get a lot of good laughs throughout the day. I´m so greatful that english is my first language haha. It´s such a terrible language to ave to learn. This week, we also taught a class. we´re starting classes every sunday to teach the members how to be missionaries. This week we talked about personal revelation. While we were teaching my companions told me of something they did in the MTC here in argentina. They all wrote questions on the board, then they chose a chapter in the book of mormon and you can literally find the answer to almost any question in ANY chapter in the book of mormon! its awesome. One thing I learned during a stake conference, when a 70 talked, he said that as questions come to our minds we should always write them down. No matter where we are at. Then we study the scriptures we can pull the questions out, pray for guidance, and find the answers. I have started doing this, and hit has been helping a lot. It helps me so much to have a guided study, instead of just studying. I also learned this week, if we want guidance from our Heavenly Father, we have to ask for it! I was a little worried about one of the companionships in my district and couldn´t figure out how to help them. I asked the zone leader what he recommended that I do, and he said, ¨"have you asked God?" I felt pretty stupid, but the next day in my studies, I prayed specifically for them, and I received so many answers during my study. It was great. Thats my invitation for you guys this week. I know its hard to remember, but I know it will help. Who knows, maybe it will give more incintive to read and pray daily. :) I know that reading and praying daily will help you to solve your problems in your daily lives. I know that as we study and take our questions to church too, that we will be able to receive the answers we need. God has given us these 3 simple tools as a guide for eternal salvation, we just have give our actoin. I love you guys so much! I feel your prayers, I´m so blessed to have such a great support team. :) Not too many Elders have a team like mine at home for me :p. I love you so much! Thanks for the birthday wishes too! Love you! eLdEr JoHnSoN

September 2, 2013

Family, This week was quite an interesting week. Tuesday morning I got a phone call from the assistants to the president and the asked me what time of the day was going to be the least busy for us. They then informed us that an Elder who was waiting for his visa from spain got here and the Lord was sending him to our area haha. So now we´re in a trio. Me, a chileno, and a spanish. We all speak so differently in spanish and different vocabularies but we´re starting to understand each other haha. On wednesday we found a new investigator. He lives in another part of Argentina, but is here for a surgery and he´s giong to be here for 3 months. He is marreid to the daughter of the first guy that I baptized here in Palermo, he has a lot of desires to follow christ, but his wife doesn´t like the church so he´s never had the opportunity. This week was his first time going to church, and he really enjoyed it. he is reading the book of mormon and also the pamphlets we have been leaving hima bout the restoration and the plan of salvation. Our next appointment with him will be tomorrow and we´ll be able to see what else he´s feeling. We also found another investigator named Teresa. She went to an evangelist church, but said she was looking for something differnt. She happens to be the mom of Jahaira´s (the last girl that got baptized) step dad. We invited her to be baptized, and in her prayer after taht she started crying and said in her prayer that she believes that this is what she´s been looking for. The best thing of all of this was that the ENTIRE FAMILY went to church on sunday!!! Jahaira, her mom, her step dad, everyone! It was so great! I love seeing entire families together in the chapel its such a great site. I´m excited to be working in a trio and learn a little bit more about ethpaña. I know this is the true church and that the work needs to be done more and more rapidly. I know that if we read and pray every day the Lord will reveal to us the things that we need to know and do to be better children for Him. I love you! Thanks for all your prayers Love, Elder youngmoney Johnson :)

August 19, 2013

Family, This week was great, we had a chapel visitors center in our chapel. It´s one of the new things the church is doing to find more investigators and help people to be able to know more about the church. This weekend while we were having ours, some missionaries went out to the street to invite to peopel to come in and take the tour of the church. They invited this man named Leandro. He went in and took the tour. Our ward mission leader was with him the whole time, and afterward set an appointment with him for us. The next day (saturday) we went and visited him. We taught him about the restauration of the church and he told us that as we were talking to him he felt like he was being refilled spiritually. He told us that he had recently gotten divorced and has an 11 year old daughter who he misses a lot. He also recently lost his job. He told us that he had been filling out job applications online that night and just went outside to get some fresh air. Then he walked by the church and decided to go with the invitation. At the end of the lesson we invited him to pray, and taught him how to do it. In his prayer he said, "thank you for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful church" haha! He didn´t even ever attend the meetings but he already considers himself a member. It´s great. He told us that he loved how everyone in the building was so happy, that outside, in the world no one has time for you and doesn´t want to talk to you, or show you respect, but that when he went inside the church, he felt like everyone cared about him. He´s now preparing to be baptized on the 8th of september. I love the church! I´m so grateful for the plan of our heavenly father to help people be able to get to know it,a nd for softening the hearts of all the members so that we can be so friendly :). I know that God is always prepraing the hearts of people we know, and we can´t be the judges. We just have to invite them all the time, so that when there moment comes, the Lord will help them say yes. I invite all who read this to invite someone to church this week, or give them a book of mormon or something. Just never be afraid to let anyone know who you are, and what church you belong to. Be Mormon. Be Happy. :) I love you all! have an incredible week! :) don´t forget to read and pray every day, its the source of our happiness! Love, Elder Johnson

August 13, 2013

Hello! This new transfer has started, another one down, the time is giong by so quickly. I´m staying in palermo with my son for one more transfer. The Lord has also asked me to be a district leader, so now I have more responsabilities, blech! haha, but its alright, it will help me grow :) It´s really cold here, and im kind of getting sick of it, but I´m just thankful im not in arizona :) My companion and I had a very cool experience this week, things have not been going so great here. well things are good, except for the fact that we have no investigators. We´re trying hard, but no one wants to follow through, we have a lot of faith in the chapel visitors center activity were doing this weekend, but anyway, now I´ll tell you guys what happened :). Diligence is key! This weekend we had no investigators in church, as we went around inviting people and calling people no one wanted to go. luckily sacrament meeting is last. We left to the street an hour before sacrament meeting started and I told my companion we were just going to invite everyone to go to church. We invited and invited and everyone but everyone rejected us, but we didn´t give up. With my last pass along card in hand 5 minutes before sacrament was about to start I thought to myself that it didn´t matter, just go inside. But I prayed and asked Heavenly Father to put someone in our path to give this last card too. The next lasy I saw was a little bit older, and I approached her and gave her the card and invited her to the church. She said, ¨this church right here? I´ve always wanted to see what its like, but its never opened. I can go in and see real fast but I have to leave and go vote.¨ So we walked in with her and the members did their job. Everyone greeted her so lovingly, that by the time we got to the staircase she said, ¨This is beautiful, I want to stay for the whole thing, I can vote later today.¨ She stayed in the church and all through sacrament. Afterwards she told us that she went to salt lake city with her cousin who is a member and that she went through the visitors center and everything in temple square. We gave her a book of mormon and she is preparing to get baptized in 2 weeks. Through this experience I learned that no matter what the Lord asks us to do, if we work with all our strength and diligence it is possible. I love the work and I know the Lord is preparing people in all times and at all places! We just have to be willing to invite. No one can ever say yes to an invitation they never receive! Invite everyone! Don´t be afraid, everyone needs to receive the gospel and we are the Lord´s tools! He relies on us to do the work for Him and we are all able to do it! We just need to have faith. I love you all, and hope everything continues going well wherever you may be :) Thank you for your emails, and for your prayers. I don´t forget to pray for all of you either, dont worry! ;) Have a great week, and invite someone to church! Love Elder Johnson

July 22, 2013

Hello family, This week went by really fast. The work has been kind of hard but this sunday was a very fulfilling sunday for me. Both of the converts I have had in this ward showed up to church alone, which is a big step for a lot of converts. Then in the class, the man that we baptized gave the closing prayer. He has been telling us that hes not prepared to receive the priesthood and that he doesnt want to do it yet, but we have been talkingto him a lot trying to help him understand the importance of ¿having the priesthood. So in sacrament meeting the sustained him as an aaronic priesthood holder and we didnt even know. That was super exciting, then he also gave the closing prayer in sacrament meeting too. After wards they stayed for a training for something new that the church is starting to do. Its called a visitors center chapel. Like in salt lake or in the mesa temple, they are going to bring a 6 foot cristus statue and do the visitors center in the chapels because they don´t have them in south america. Its going to be a greatexperience and we are going to see a lot of miracles from it. Right now, since the conference we had on hastening the work of salvation,we have been working a lot with the leaders of our ward. We want to work in unity with the wards and not seperate. It says in preachmy gospel that the best way to work is, with the members. We have a new ward mission leader and he has a lot of excitement to do the work and I know that with him and with this activitywe are going to have a lot of success here in the near future. This week 16 new missionaries come in that were waiting for visas. There are going to be a lots of changes in the missions as the visa waiters and new waves of missionaries come in. Its going to be exciting and I can´t wait to see the work grow so much here. We´ll have to wait and see if thereany changes with my area in the next couple of weeks. I hope everyone at home has seen the hastening the work of salvation conference. If not I reccomend that you watch it and act! The Lord needs us all as missionaries. We need to give everyone the opportunity to receive the gospel. Everyone needs the opportunity to live with our HeavenlyFather. I love you all and I hope you do your best to share the gospel every day. The best way to prepare too is readinbg and praying everyday. Do what it takes and the Lord will bless you. It´s always going to be scary to share the gospel, but when you see the changes that takes place afterward.its worth every butterfly in the stomach :). Have a great week, and keep your eyes opened and keep praying to find someone to share the gospel with. Love you lots! Love, Elder Johnson

June 24, 2013

Holaaaaa, Bueno, Things are going alright here, we´ve been really busy. Like it was said in the conference last night, the missionary work is really starting to pick up. The members are all so willing to help, and we always are being so blessed for the things we are doing, and even things we aren´t doing. It´s crazy to see how the Lord blesses us when we do what he asks us to do. As long as we are obedient, we are allowing him to apply His will. I really feel like some times I´m not having any success, but I´m doing everything I know I have to do and then all the sudden out of nowhere a random blessing just falls from the sky! We´re teaching this girl, her name is Jahaira and she is from Peru, she is very shy and very timid. We invited her to church last week, but she didn´t want to go. We figured it was because she wasn´t going to know anyone and would feel super uncomfortable. So we thought and prayed about what member her age could go with us to make her feel more comfortable and help her go to church. We took a girl named Luz, to be her friend, all through the lesson it was just pure awkwardness, neither of them talked and we felt like we were going nowhere and making no progress. Then we told them that they should look for each other on facebook and be friends on there. (We had the revelation to do missionary work through facebook before the Apostles announced it ;) ) When we left the lesson my companion and I just kept thinking to ourselves... "Oh no, that was terrible, we´re never going to be able to get her to church." We were really worried, but the next day, Saturday, we went by and the firs thing Jahaira said to us was, "Luz invited me to go to church with her, she said that I could sit with her in all the classes and that she could take me home afterward too." We were surprised, and very happy. The fact that she talked to us and said more than 10 words was a miracle in its self! In the end, Luz didn´t make it to church for some other problems, but Jahaira still went, and the members all treated her so well, she said afterwards when we asked her what her favorite part was, "The whole thing!" Then after that we were worried about how were going to get her home, then a member came up to us and said Elders, are you taking her home? I can go with you guys, so next week I can pick her up for church! It was so great. We have transfers next week, on tuesday, so don´t froget I wont write on monday. We´re hoping she will be able to be baptized on sunday, but that depends on her actions and the Lord. I know this is the only true church on the face of the earth, and that this is the most important work we can do. The best way to prepare is read the scriptures and pray every day, and go to church every sunday. I promise that as we do that, we will grow faster than we even knew was possible. I love you lots, thank you for all your prayers! Love, Elder Johnson

June 3, 2013

Family, Well things are continuing to go incredibly well. The Lord is blessing us a ton! My companion and I have had so much work this week, every night we have gotten home just completely exhausted, in reality its such a great feeling. This week alone we found 7 new investigators. The members here are so willing to help and invite their friends in any moment. We have a baptism set for this weekend. His name is Meliton, his wife and kids got baptized a little over a year ago, and he still had some doubts. His wife has made him read the Book of Mormon basically every day since she got baptized and has taken him to church plenty of times. He finally decided that this was what he needed to do with his ilfe and told us that he knew these things were true and that he waws ready to get baptized. He´s going to be an incredible leader in the chucrh. Then on sunday, we were walking to an investigators house to invite her to go to church again, and when we went there her mom answered the door. It surprised us, because the mom had told us that she works on sundays and was´t giong to be able to go to church. She told us that she got really sick and that she wasn´t going to be able to go. Our meetings start at 9 but we start with the classes and sacrament meeting is last. It starts at 11. So we said a prayer with her, and afterwards invited her again. She said that if she was feeling better by 11 she would go with us. So we went back to the church to be with the other investigators, and whenw e walked in a member came up to us and said that there was a lady named Victoria outside parking her car that was coming to church for the first time. So we went out and talked to her. She told us her boyfriend is living in the united states and that he´s Mormon. She said they were talking and that he told her about marriage in the temple and everything and invited her to go to church and she had been reading on LDS.org all week and came and told us she just wanted to learn a little more before she made any decision. The members treated her really well and the testimony meeting was great! Then after the bishop talked to her, and he taught her about the Holy Ghost and she started crying and said she´s never felt so great before. Afterwards there was a baptism from the other ward and she stayed for the baptism. We invited her to be baptized, and she said with a big smile on her face that she would. So we will also be having another baptism on the 26th. So goign back a littlebit. We went back to the house of alejandra a little before 11. We called and called and called and she didn´t answer. So once again, we decided to ask our Father in Heaven for help. We said another pray, and on the next call, "Hello? Are you outside? Okay, I´m all ready, ill be right there!" It was super awesome!ª Everything is going so well. It´s awesome to see that the Lord really blesses us so much whenw e are entirely dilligent and completely obedient. I´m so grateful for all the people that the Lord is allowing us to meet. I know that they are going to progress so fast in the gospel! It all comes down to reading and praying every day. That is the way the investigators gain testimonies, and the way that we will strengthen ours too. We just need to be obedient to the teachings of Christ. If were not obedient, we´re not going to be happy. I love you all, I hope that you will all push yourselves to do what you know is right in every moment. The Lord blesses us even more for doing the things we know we should when no one is watching. Have a great week!

May 27, 2013

Hello everyone! Just to start off, I want to apologize for another short letter. Saturday night our leaders called and said, "President has invited all the Elders in the mission to go to the temple on monday." So of course we took taht opportunity. We had to leave at 5 in the morning and we took a 2 and a half hour bus ride to the temple. It was super great. My area is incredible! There is a subway, mcdonalds, wendy´s, burger king, and a TGI fridays within 5 blocks of my house. And a mall across the street. And to make it even better there are over 100 people in chruch every week and they all understand missionary work! This week 3 investigators went to church and they were all brought by members! They understand what they are supposed to do and they do it! We also had a great lesson with a man who has been investigating the chucrh for over 2 years now, and we commited him to be baptized last night. He will be getting baptized on the 9th of June. My companion is from El Salvador and I have been getting a lot better at my spanish very quickly. Other than that, the weather is getting cold and I´m super excited to be working here. I promise I´ll have more to write next week and I´tll be more exciting. Time has just been really short lately. I love you all though and hope you have a great week. Don´t forget to read and pray every day! Also dont forget the importance of church and how important it is to think of the savior and his sacrifcies for us as we partake of the sacrament! Love, Elder Johnson

May 13, 2013

Helllooo!!! It´s snowing down here in the end of world. I´m pretty excited in this moment, but everyone tells me I wont be excited for much longer. It was super awesome to be able to talk to the family yesterday on skype! Braden and spencer are growing up so fast! Especially spencer with his six pack! :P But this week was going pretty great, until sunday, then we had no investigators in church. I was a little discouraged, especially cuz the district president came to give a talk, and to also interview two men who were going to receive the Melchezidek priesthood, and they also didn´t show up. So in total, including the branch president, his two sons, and the district president who come from another city, and us two missionaries, we had 9 people in church on sunday. So that means there were only 3 members from the city in church. It was a little rough on me. Then the District President got up to speak and he told us, that a member of the 70 went to his ward a couple of weeks ago. The city that they are in has 3 branches now with an average of 90 people a week in each branch. The 70 said that when he served his mission there about 35-40 years ago, there was 2 people in the entire city who took the sacrament every week, Him and his companion. It made me feel a lot better to know that even if the results don´t always come, as long as we are serving the Lord with exact obedience the blessings will come in the Lords time. Right now, this city is really small with very little members, but I know that as the members continue to live the gospel, that they will be able to see their city grow into a district and mabye one day even a stake! He also talked about the importance of reading the scriptures and praying daily. I know it probably gets really annoying hearing it from me every week, but it really is one of the most important things we can do. That we HAVE to do! It´s a commandment of God to do this things, and when we dont, we are disobedient. Someone shared in the last General Conference that we we need to make praying as common in our every day lives as breathing or eating. I have been working on doing this, and its a little bit hard to make it so common, but I have noticed that as I focus on praying and asking the Lord more frequently for His advice, that things have been a little easier, and that as I read the scriptures, I more easily find answers and learn things that really strengthen me and help me to know what to change in my life to be in allignment with the Lord. I promise that as we push ourselves to do these things that we will see the hand of the Lord more in our lives. I know that it will strengthen every one of you who does it and it will help you to straighten your life out, and change the things that you want to change. We´re not all perfect at all, and thats why we have come to this earth. That´s also why Heavenly Father sent His Son, so we could know what we need to do to change. It is only through His atonement that we can do so. I love you all, and hope that you are enjoying the heat, cuz I´m definitely not :). I hope you all will do your best to read and pray every day. Do what it takes, cuz in the end it will wall be worth it, and I promise that! Freezing his behind off, Elder Justin B. Johnson

April 29, 2013

Hello again, This past week was pretty fun. We started helping the father of a member build his house. We have been helping a little with that every day, and I havge been learning quite a bit of carpentry skills. I´m pretty much a craftsman now. It was also a really good week cuz we had a conference with out mission president and I got to go back to Ushuaia for the conference. I stayed in my apartment from my last area, it was really weird to have to sleep on the ground and not in the bed that I once slept in, but it was still really fun. I felt like I was back where I belonged. We also learned something that hit me really hard. He talked about how everything we do in life should be looked at like this... What is the Vision we have for the subject. What is the goal we want to set. What is the plan to reach that goal. and what is the action we must do to fulfill the plan. for example, If you have the vision to make a delicious chocolate cake, your goal would be to make the perfect batter, the plan to do that would be to get all the best ingredients, and following that the action would be buying them and mixing them together. No idea if that makes any sense like that., That was the best example that came into my head super quickly, it makes a lot of sesne to me when I think of it with my investigators haha. Anyway, it was a super good way to plan things in our lives and the apostles and prophets said if we plan things like this, and also using chapter 8 of preach my gospel, we´ll never have problems acheiving our goals in our lives. Thomas S. Monson also said something like this once. " Discipline is the bridge between goals and acheivments." So as we set these goals and are determined to really acheive them, we really will be able to see the success in our lives. I think an Apostle said, "Imagine the nicest care you want, if you follow these simple steps and this chapter of preach my gospel in everything you do in your life, you will be able to buy that car at some time in your life time." So just a heads up, at some time in my life I WILL be driving a corvette :). Anyway, 2 weeks from now I´ll be calling home. So prepare some questions and I´ll be ready to answer! I hope you all have a great week, don´t forget to read and pray every day! I have come to grow a great love for the Book of Mormon in these past couple of weeks! I plan on finishing both the English and Spanish Book of Mormon within the next two months. It´s so great to see that we have the way prepared for us and all the things we need to know inside a book with 532 pages! All we have to do is sincerely read it with a pray always in our heart! God does answer prayers! I love you all so much! Until next week! Rohacha chû! I don´t know if I spelled it right, but that is see you again in the language Guaraní! LOVE YOU!!! Elder Johnson

April 22-Pictures

April 22, 2013

Dear family, It´s been quite a weird week. I feel like we are inviting everyone to listen, and so many people say yes, but then something comes up and either we cant go by them, or they are gone when we get there. We have been having quite a few baptisms, but we still need to continue to find more and more so this area can have its on branch, and the first Mormon chapel in this city. This sunday was pretty weird. We have our lessons in the house of a member, and she was out of town this week. Supposedly when I called her I told her that we would be by her house at 11 in the morning (during our studies) to pick up the key from the person watching her house. So when we showed up at 2 for church, no one was there and the doors were locked. We didn´t have any way to get it, but we had to have a sacrament meeting, in order to confrim the kid who got baptized the night before. But the man that runs the meeting decided to just suspend church until next week haha. Yeah it sounds really weird, but thats what he decided to do. So we called our mission president and he told us to have a song, do the confirmation, take the sacrament and closing prayer haha. So thats just what we did. We went to someone elses house, all cramped up and huddled around the fire stove and started chucrh about 2:30 and ended at about 2:50... I could get used to that.. haha, also because I was supposed to teach sunday school and I got out of that as well. But we´re still working on getting this area turned into a branch. We just need a few more priesthood holders and then they can make it a branch, and also find us a place to rent to have our meetings so its a little more secure every week. Other than that, its just such a different place down here. Everyone knows everyone, there is only like 1 of everything. We have to cut a lot of firewood cuz not very many people have gas heaters down here (luckily we do) But we help a lot of people cut their fire wood. It´s tiring. Anyway, that seems like all the news I have for this week. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us! I know that he sent His Son to atone for every one of our sins so that we can have the opportunity to live with them again one day. I know that families can be together forever, we just need to do what the Lord has commanded us to do. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that every human being will get closer to Jesus Christ through reading it. I know that we can pray to our Heavenly Father and that He really does hear us and WILL answer our prayers. I know that God gives us prophets so that we can know which way to go in our lives in order to fulfill the comandments of God. I love all of you and thank you for your prayers for me! En el nombre de Jesucristo, Amen!! Love, Elder Johnson

April 15, 2013

Hello, This week was a crazy one. I don´t have much time to type either, but just a quick review. We had a baptism in a portable font about 3 feet tall. The kid had to be baptized 3 times cuz he did´nt go completely under the frist two and he was so cold he almost said no to doing it a third time haha. Then he had to kneel so it was easier to do it. We have our meetings in the kitchen of a member and there are about 18 people who go to church. This week we are starting to help a new member build the temporary meeting house in his back yard until we get permission to have a chapel built here. It´s going to be a lot of work, but its going to be really fun to see the church grow here in this little city at the end of the world. Right now we actually only have about 8 members, the rest come from another city to help us run things, but anyway. I´ll have a more updated report next week. Love you all! Don´t forget to read and praye every day! As we do so, we come closer to the Lord! Love lots, Elder Johnson

April 8, 2013 Elder Johnson's Transfer

Well... I think I have arrived in Benson, Arizona... Transfers came aroud and to my suprise, I was going north.. But not too far north. I got the transfer call and was told I would be going to Tolhuin which is only about 100 miles north of my other area. I know that souds like a lot, but when youre already... i dont know 7000 miles away from home, 100 miles doesnt change to much haha. The area im in now is not even a branch. There are 5 members and its called a family group. We have the meetings in the house of one of the members. Apparently 2 men received the priesthood yesterday and in a few weeks will become the first ever church leaders in this area and it will become a branch. I¨M pretty excited to get to work here and see what I can do to help this area grow. I was so excited to be able to hear general conference this week. It has officially become my favorite time of the year. I already look forward to the next conference. I really enjoyed the talk by Elder Bednar, the way he compared guilt is to our soul as pain is to our body. It made me think of how important it is to never make mistakes, and when we do make a mistake to repent as quickly as possible so that it heals and we lose the pain as quickly as possible. I hope everything is going good for everyone else, I´m really sorry, but I don´t konw what to write at times, so ifa nyone has some sort of question feel free to ask me and I will answer it. It´ll make writing a bit easier too. I just feel like you guys hear the same thing every week haha. Love you guys lots! Don´t forget to read and pray every day! With love, from the south still, Elder Johnson

March 25, 2013

Sorry, I have to go so this is going to be really short and ill tell the whole story next week. this week was great though, it included helping a couple get married, then baptized, having a miracle baptism on sunday, and being in the chapel for 12 straight hours. It was a really long day, but it was a great week. Its such a great feeling to see people decided for themselves the path they want to take and actually go with it. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it can change peoples lives. We just have to read it with questions in our hearts and be ready to listen and follow the promptings of the spirit. I love you lots and sorry for the short message but I promise a lot more next week! Its hard to write a lot when i send pictures! Just remember, dont forget to read and pray every day! Love you! Love, Elder Johnson

March 18, 2013

Well, this week was absolutely great! It all started off with a dinner we had with a less active member on tuesday night. We were talking to him and he told us that the other day, his daughter who lives around the corner (who we had no idea that lives there, cuz she´s not on our lists or anything!) saw us walking down the street and decided she wants to go back to church! How awesome is that?! She just saw us and she wants to go back to church now! Then he told us that she has 3 kids who aren´t baptized yet! So as we were eating one of the kids came in and we shared a scripture and asked him if he wanted to be baptized and he said yes, so we went and talked to his mom and told her that we would be going to church with them on sunday. So on sunday we met the ohther 2 kids, one is 8, 10, and 13. They all are preparing to get baptized this sunday. Along with the 2 investigators who will be getting married this friday and baptized on sunday! This is going to be an amazing week! 5 baptisms on sunday! It´s also stake conference but they are doing it with all of argentina chile and uruguay through (i dont know how to write this in english) Satelite?? Maybe... anyway... The other great thing... There is an incredible family here, they are called the Alarcon family. The mom is a convert of the church and they aren´t sealed in the church. The dad was a little bit inactive and about a year ago the mom got diagnosed with cancer. that kind of hurt the dad a lot and he became even more inactive, but since ive been here he has started to go to church a little more and they have the goal of going to the temple to be sealed before she passes away. They have been going to church very frequently now and he has been set apart as a priest and this past sunday he baptized his daughter and it was possibly the most spiritual baptism I have ever seen in my life. It was just such an awesome setting and so many members from the ward were there to support. I really hope I am in buenos aires and get to go see them get sealed when it happens. It´s been a great week and Its just going to keep getting better and ill have lots of pictures on next monday! I also wanted to tell you guys some things that our president told us when he came down here. He told us that we need to teach all the members the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I think it´s important that I teach you all too! So what many don´t know is that the gospel of Jesus Christ consists of 5 steps. Everything starts of with faith, then faith leads us to repentance, and then baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring to the end. We don´t get baptized and receive the holy ghost and its set, we have to endure to the end. Everyone. That´s why its so important to read the scriptures and pray every single day. Those are commandments of God. He has commanded us to read and pray every single day. That is the easiest way to endure to the end too, as we do those 2 things and go to church every sunday our faith is continually strengthened and we grow to a greater understanding of the gospel and the plans that Heavenly Father has for us. Here we teach it as the OLA, which means wave, but also O Oracion(prayer) L lectura (reading) and A Asistencia (church attendance) As we focus ourselves in those 3 things the things of the gospel will make more sense to us and we will be able to progress easier in our lives and receive the numerous blessings that our Heavenly father has prepared for us. I know that it really works like that, I have seen it in many families here in my mission and I think it is best that everyone that reads this does it as well so they can better prepare to live as eternal families and receive the blessings they need. Heavenly Father has all othe blessings prepared for us, He just has to wait for us to do what he asks to send them to us! I know this is true and I hope all of you will give your best strength to read and pray every day! The OLA!!!! I love you all so much, Heavenly Father lives and loves every one of us. He made a plan for us so we can all live together for eternity and thats the best gift we can receive! I love you all so much! Have a great week! Enjoy the last week of break! Les mando saludos del fin del mundo a todos!!! Love, Elder Johnson

This week was a good week. Everything is starting to go really well. We had a couple get married and then the wife got baptized on saturday and confirmed on sunday. It was really weird because me and my first companion visited this family and they were going through a lot of hard things and they didnt have any desires at all to do it. They were always getting in fights and they were never all there for us to teach. It was really annoying cuz we wanted to help them but they were just always angry about everything. It got to a point where we were about to just leave them and wait for them to come to us when they were ready to listen. Their daughter has a brain tumor, and so they will have to be going to buenos aires for a surgery really soon and so the last time we talked to them they were a lot more receptive, and then they told us that they have a date set to go to buenos aires for the surgery, and that they want to get married so she can be baptized before she goes. It was kind of a shock to us, but when they told us, we did what we needed to do and helped her do what she needed to do, and she was baptized this saturday, and confirmed yesterday. It helped me to know, that even when people don´t seem like they are taking what we are saying to heart, if we listen to the spirit, the point will come when they let it enter their heart. We have another couple, who neither of them are members, and they have a lot of desires to get baptized. They receive everything that we teach without any questions at all. We are going to go with them this weekend so they can get married cuz the marriage process is a little weird here in argentina. It takes like a week or 2 here in ushuaia to get married you cant just do it in a day or 2 like in the USA. We´re going to keep working with them until they get to their date. We didn´t have a lot of changes in our zone, just 1 elder left and one came in. The new ones name is Elder Solum and he is from Missouri, but he now lives in Fountain Hills, AZ. He´s a big sports fan, so we´ve already made plans to go watch some diamondbacks games and ASU games when we get home haha. Well thats the news from me this week, weçll have to see what the next 5 weeks and possibly my last 5 weeks from the south have to bring for me. Dont forget to read and pray every day! Love, Elder Johnson

February 25, 2013

Hello, So sounds like I have another 6 weeeks in the south. Maybe I´ll get to see a little bit of the winter before I get out of here. The weather has been pretty strange here, but no where near as strange as snow in phoenix??? Thats incredible. I´m slightly jealous. I don´t think I will be saying that in a few weeks though. This morning we woke up and there was fog covering the entire island. It was pretty crazy. In other news we have had a lot of success here finally. We have 4 investigators right now and all of them are going to church. 2 of them are from bolivia and are going to get married so they both can get baptized and the other is dating a member and they are living together and they are going to get married and she will be batpized this saturday. There was a baptism in our chapel this last week and the water comes out of the faucet a little green, but that is okay. The good news is that its hot water so they dont have to freeze to death for there salvation. So we are working hard trying to find more and more to teach because everything goes a lot faster and a lot easier when we have things to do. Also, we walk a lot less when there are things to do, i mean im greatful for the leg muscles I have received but, im good where I am, I´d rather walk less. I have learned a lot this week about the importance all the members of the church have to share the gospel. It´s really important that everyone in the world gets the opportunity to receive the truth. That means us as missionaries and members of the church have a great duty to do. I was pondering on that the other day, and I was think about how sad it would be if we get the day of final judgement and find ourselves with one of our friends, and they come to as and ask us, "Why didn´t you at least invite me to your church, why didn´t you give me the opportunity to know the truth." I don´t know if it would be easy to explain to them. I don´t know, I just hope that everyone can remember their duties as members of the church and share the gospel with all those we know. Even those who are already members, just lost on their paths. Alma 4:3-5 I love you all, hope you have a great week, dont forget to read and pray every day! It´s very important in these days! We need to do it now more than ever. Love, Elder Johnson
